Connect Dots – Adobe After Effects tutorial

Want to connect some dots? Well I’ll clear up how to do that and connect the dots on how to connect some dots? Wow that’s terrible. I could really use some help writing these descriptions.

Anyway we’re going to be drawing some lines that automatically connect any two points and can even take being in 3D using that old scale nonsense. I hope you like it.

If you have any questions just let me know in the comments.

Download this project file:

This file ONLY works in After Effects CS6 and NEWER. But would work best in adobe CC.

      Hello Muntashir,
      I get my ideas from wherever they come from. Sometimes I’m talking with other designers. Sometimes I’m watching a commercial. Sometimes I’m working on client projects. Making ideas is easy for me, I just sit there and they happen.

    I’ve created vector “connect the dot” for backgrounds and when I came across your demo, I thought I’d give it a try. Novice to After Effects. Only issue I had was when I do the Easy Ease, I get a parabola instead of a wave graph. What am I missing? On CC 2017

      Are you looking at a speed graph or a value graph?

    I was looking at it as a value. I changed it to speed and it works perfectly

    Hello, I have 24 error expression messages. My user interface is in french, maybe it’s that?
    Here one of the expressions that I need to correct in the “scale” effector (in french, “scale” is translated by “echelle”)
    seedRandom(thisComp.layer(“Control”).effect(“Slider Control 2”)(“Slider”)+index, false)
    x=wiggle(.010,thisComp.layer(“Control”).effect(“Slider Control”)(“Slider”));
    y=x/50;
    value+[y[1],y[1]]
    Thanks

      It is likely a translation issue. I think in this case it is the translation of “slider” perhaps? I don’t see the words for scale in that expression. But likely there is another specific work being called out that is not translating for the named effect.
