Q&A Facebook Edition – Question 4 (Advice on workflow)

http://www.youtube.com/v/Ep5fXoGkGeE

How do you speed up your work flow? I don’t even know your workflow. Maybe you’re at max speed already. Likely you’re not because you’re asking about it and have gripes. In general though the best thing to do is write it down, plan it out, and look for logical gaps and loops. After that it’s all about what you prefer to do with what programs and how you prefer to manage your time and resources. I don’t know what you’re doing and there isn’t one workflow for all things so the best answer here is just more questions.

Infinite Cutout Animation – Adobe After Effects tutorial

Click to tweet? — http://clicktotweet.com/afb6K

Today we’ll be faking stop motion animation in after effects. I once saw an artist, and I say artist because they are truly great at this kind of thing, animate in after effects, print out every frame, and then stack and photograph them in stop motion. It was amazing and looked good and now I’ve copied it in a cheap knock off version and feel dirty… have fun with the tutorial!

Q&A Facebook Edition – Question 3 (About Colour [color] Correction and Grading)

Let’s talk about colour correction and colour grading and how you might be wrong about how you use those words. And then we’ll talk about why that’s important. And then I’ll not apologize for insulting your intelligence.

Just remember colour correcting corrects colour. Colour grading changes it to look pretty. Keep your processes strait dawg! Also cs6 no longer has the 3 way color correction. If you ask me about it in the comments I’m going to say read the thing in the video and then made a rude noise. You won’t hear the rude noise but know that I made it.

Q&A Facebook Edition – Question 2 (Why is Jake so Sexy?)

Click to tweet? — http://clicktotweet.com/Y204w

Jake asks “WHY AM I SO SEXY”. And I did say I would answer the first five questions so I guess here is the answers? I actually have no idea why anyone is the way they are. I’m certainly no sexual expert or anything over here. But that’s for the question and I’m sure we all hope the next one is about After Effects.

Q&A Facebook Edition – Question 1 (make more professional colours in After Effects?)

This question comes from Seán Mc Ternan. And he asks “What are the little thing’s you consider important to give an overall ‘Professional’ look and feel to your graphics. Meaning what do you add in terms of blending options to make your colors look more alive rather than a flat?”

Well that’s a lot of things and the answer will likely disappoint you. It’s a lot about choosing good colours. Knowing about colours. And applying colour theory. As well you get an earful about what I REALLY think about your colour choices.

Easy as Pie Charts – Adobe After Effects tutorial

Click to tweet? — http://clicktotweet.com/fbb1_

This tutorial is as easy as pie… pie charts that is! It’s all about making a simple and easilly editable pie chart. The trick is to get one wedge to start where the other wedge ends. It’s very clever and quite tasty. Also if you look closely you’ll learn things about pies, and me, and yourself.

This is the perfect solution for when you need a pie chart but someone isn’t giving you the data you need right away. Or if a producer comes in and changes it. Or needs to change the order, or whatever. This is brilliant, trust me. I think so and I’m the guy who made it.
