Freeze Frame Titles

I like the old pulp movies where characters were introduced with a freeze frame and plate with their name and sometimes something about them. Looking back on it that was a lame visual device to save on writing, but now you can make one too!

I really like what you did with the first example (Freeze Frame Titles (A Tutorial)). I was wondering how you made the zig zag line effect behind it. At the end of your video I was hoping you’d mention it, but I’d really like to do that.

      Hey Nathan,

The zig zag thing is just a couple of shape layers, set to multiply and lower in opacity. Then I drew some masks on them to make the shapes of each line and animated the “mask shape” with keyframes. Nothing fancy really. Enjoy.

    Thank you good sir,
Video editing has become some what of a hobby of mine. And I don’t exactly know exactly how to do what you said but I’ll figure it out. All of your tutorials are very helpful. I’m working on a video for my church and I’m using a few of the techniques you’ve made videos on (chroma key, freeze frames, kinetic typography). And it’s very satisfying to look at the final product. Thanks for helping out the little guys. Keep up the good work!
